Well hello there, fall! If there is one thing we can count at Live + Breathe, it is the constant shifting and changing we undergo each season. This fall has been one for the books! There have been several new program requests that have come our way, along with new team members who are advocating and out there making a difference in each class! As we use a sense of grace to flow with this autumn breeze, it is our sincere honor to continue to provide a little more peace to the students we are privileged to serve.
Jennifer has a "chill chair" in her outdoor yoga class for addition recovery. She spends every Sunday morning guiding her students through a slow flow with emphasis on recovery and health. Not only did she locate the space to hold class overlooking the bay, Jennifer also formats the class with quotes, inspiration, practical advice and poses that put each student in touch with their body. Addictions can affect many people in ways that are outside of what is traditionally thought of as "an addiction". There is a place for this class in the lives of several. It heals, grounds and promotes a sense of peace throughout. Read more about Jennifer, our truly talented instructor here. We thank you immensely, Jennifer!
In The Field
L+B is providing yoga demonstrations to children, youth and families at Radys Children's Hospital in San Diego this fall. Family event days are planned for Sickle Cell and Hemophilia patients, where our volunteers hold a brief introduction on how to increase health and decease stress. As a fun addition, we will also have yoga laughter as taught by our volunteer, Indy!
Looking forward to joining the Special Olympics in Southern California once again with a yoga tent to stretch with the athletes! We were honored to be part of their spring games and heard reports of how the coaches had a difficult time getting their players off the yoga mats. We work to offer basic yoga techniques to athletes with special needs and provide a take-home resource for a simple, independent yoga practice.
Our partner, Riffs Studios in La Jolla, is throwing an Anniversary bash! As part of the celebration that marks 3 years for this amazing yoga studio / music establishment, raffle proceeds will be donated to L+B. We are sincerely grateful for the support. Without a hint of bias, this is hands-down one of the best places to take a yoga class in Southern California - or maybe anywhere, for that matter! Save the date: October 17th from 6-9 pm. Event info here and studio details here. See you there!
